The vice control strategy aims to restore the quality of life in the city by suppressing vice offenses and to prevent the exploitation of children and juvenile drug use. Additional goals are to coordinate the resources of city, State, and Federal agencies and ensure the safety and integrity of police personnel. Program components include regular meetings with precinct commanders; specific efforts directed at prostitution, gambling, and drug law offenses. Police officers newly assigned to the Public Morals Division attend specialized training courses in vice-related investigations. All officers participate in random drug testing.
