The impact of gang migration on the second dimension -- gang formation -- and the context of local gang activity is the focal concern of police agencies and the public. Gang migration suggests points of departure and destination (the third dimension). Analysis of the characteristics of departure and destination locations may produce insights about gang motivations to migrate. The fourth dimension, individual versus collective aspects of gang migration, has direct implications for gang processes, organizational dynamics, and criminal activity engaged in by the migrating gang members.
