The volume's first four chapters address broad issues in campus violence by conceptualizing violence; discussing administrative perspectives and the commercial promotion of campus violence; and examining the destructive link between alcohol, other drugs, and morbidity. Subsequent chapters look at the pressures on and limitations of college counselors and psychotherapists who deal with disruptive students, specific kinds of violence (urban crime, racism, and violence toward lesbian and gay students), and male perpetrators of campus violence. Final chapters describe actual campus tragedies involving murders and how these tragedies were handled, along with the nature of resistance to reducing campus violence. References, tables, and figures
