This report highlights the activities of the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Parole in fiscal year 1993.
Abstract
The mission of the Board is to protect the public, use agency and community resources to help parolees attain self- sufficiency, and supervise parolees and return those to prison who are not law-abiding. This report describes the functions of the Board's various divisions, including field services; administrative; clemency administration/parole selection; research, planning, development, and evaluation; and professional standards and organizational development. Other topics covered include victims services, parole decision guidelines, rules for consideration of life sentence inmates, substance abuse counseling, and strategic planning. New bedspace has enabled Georgia to increase the number of offenders in prison while reducing the number of parole releases.
