This manual instructs police officers involved in the investigation and prosecution of illegal gang activities; here, a gang is defined as a group of people who form an alliance for a common purpose and who engage in acts harmful to public morals, or to obstruct justice or engage in criminal activity.
Abstract
The first section describes juvenile gang problems and identifies prominent juvenile gangs in California, their graffiti, tattoos, weapons, attitudes, and other characteristics. The manual describes dress and appearance common to Filipino, Armenian, Black, and Hispanic gangs. Subsequent chapters discuss in detail Asian gangs, focusing on the growing problem of Vietnamese youth gangs, and motorcycle gangs, including their structure, colors, philosophies, criminal activities, and biker intelligence networks. There is also an analysis of California outlaw motorcycle gangs and profiles of the most prominent groups.
