This user's guide is designed to accompany "The Juvenile Firesetter/Arson Control and Prevention Program (JFACPP) Program Materials" and provide a summary of how to plan and implement a juvenile firesetter/arson control and prevention program.
Abstract
This is achieved by outlining critical decision points in building each component of the juvenile firesetter/arson program. It is a "how-to" format that guides the reader from the planning to the execution of an effective community program. The information is presented under each of the seven components: program management, screening and evaluation, intervention services, referral mechanisms, publicity and outreach, monitoring systems, and the development of relationships with the justice system. The manual also highlights the key information in "The Juvenile Firesetter/Arson Control and Prevention Program Guidelines for Implementation." Because these volumes contain a lot of information, this user's guide shows where to find particular types of information in the two volumes. Program leaders, managers, and service providers in fire service, mental health, law enforcement, probation, and juvenile justice system will find this manual to be a quick and easy reference for building a network of community services to control and abate juvenile firesetting and arson.
