Activities and accomplishments of the Targeted Outreach Youth Gang Prevention/Intervention Project (Project) for the quarterly period of October 1 through December 31, 1992, are provided.
Abstract
The main objective of this Project is to transfer effective gang prevention and intervention strategies to Boys and Girls Club (B&GC) units and to document the day-to- day activities, techniques, and underlying principles of existing B&GC youth gang intervention programs. B&GC units were invited to apply to the Project for consideration. During this quarter, the drafting of the Gang Prevention Through Targeted Outreach Manual also was completed. The Final Research Report for the past program cycle was completed, the results of which reflect the value and importance of B&GC of America's Targeted Outreach/youth gang initiative. A copy of this 36-page report is included in this quarterly report. In addition, during this quarter, a training syllabus was finalized. A copy of this syllabus is included. Seventeen requests for information concerning gang prevention and intervention were received during the quarter. A listing of requestors is included. Also included are copies of the transmittal letter, description and application, a brief bibliography of youth gang literature, a special program fact sheet, and a list of Project sites.
