This directory provides a comprehensive listing of organizations that provide legal assistance on civil and criminal matters to persons unable to afford legal counsel, as well as organizations that provide a variety of support services to legal aid and indigent defense offices.
Abstract
Programs providing services related to special needs are also included; topics include AIDS/HIV law, capital punishment, disabilities, elderly, environmental advocacy, the rights of homosexuals, American Indian rights, veterans legal assistance, women's issues and family law, and student legal services. Each entry lists the city in which the organization is located, a notation indicating whether the organization receives funding from the Legal Services Corporation, the branch offices of the organization, the address and the telephone number of the main office, and the program director.
