The first section discusses data collected by the Australian Institute on Criminology on juveniles in corrective institutions, aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander data, the types of population data used here, and rules governing juvenile offenders in each jurisdiction in Australia. The tables present statistics calculated by race, age, gender, detention status, and jurisdiction.
