Between 1992 and 1993, the rate of all index crimes fell, with a total decline of 6.8 percent in the number of offenses and a drop from 5,746 crimes per 100,000 residents in 1992 to 5,147 crimes per 100,000 residents in 1993 (a difference of 10.4 percent).
