This manual, produced by the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research Early HIV Infection Guideline Panel, is designed for health care professionals involved in the evaluation and management of early HIV infection.
Abstract
The guideline is not a comprehensive book on early HIV care, but limits itself to recommendations on counseling related to disclosure of HIV status; medical evaluation and management of early HIV infection and selected conditions in adults, adolescents, infants, and children; and case management. The guidelines also offer strategies for addressing challenges in providing and accessing appropriate and comprehensive early HIV care. Each recommendation is followed by a rating indicating the extent to which it is evidence-based. The text is supplemented by eight algorithms that visually present selected aspects of early HIV evaluation and management. 3 tables, 427 references, and 3 appendixes
