The National Center for State Courts surveyed the salaries of State court judges and administrators as of January 1, 1994, for appellate courts, general jurisdiction trial courts, and courts of limited and special jurisdiction.
Abstract
Salaries of associate justices in the highest courts ranged from $64,452 to $127,267, with a mean of $92,806 and a median of $92,383. Salaries of judges in intermediate appellate courts ranged from $73,388 to $119,314, with a mean of $91,491 and a median of $89,452. Salaries of judges in general jurisdiction trial courts ranged from $61,740 to $104,262, with a mean of $83,048 and a median of $82,997. Finally, salaries of State court administrators varied between $43,139 and $119,314; the mean salary was $80,059, and the median salary was $79,242. Data are tabulated by State.
