Abstract
Data on probation and parole address the number and percentage of persons sentenced to probation by principal offense for 1991; the average number of persons under probation and parole, as well as in prison for 1987/88- 1991/92; and the number and percentage of probationers and parolees who have abused alcohol for each year from 1988 through 1992. Statistics pertinent to remand prisons cover the average number of persons kept in remand prisons for each year from 1987/88 through 1991/92. Prison statistics encompass the number of inmates on March 1, 1992, by age; the number and percentages of persons sentenced to imprisonment in 1991, by main offenses; persons absconding from prison for 1991/92 fiscal year; and foreign nationals sentenced to imprisonment and admitted to prison in 1991, by nationality. Other prison statistics address transfers following misconduct for fiscal years 1989/90-1991/92, women sentenced to prison taken into custody in 1987-91, average cost per prisoner and day for different types of prison in Swedish crowns, the staff of the Probation and Parole Administration, and the Administration's expenses and grants. Other information includes an organizational chart for probation and parole services under the Department of Justice and a listing of staff positions of the Probation and Parole Administration for fiscal year 1991/92. 13 tables and figures
