Wherever possible, Canadian information is used in this report; the studies presented are all Canadian, and the examples of policies and programs to reduce school-based violence are drawn from Canadian school districts or boards. Forms of violent activities discussed in this report include youth and youth gang violence, violence against teachers, bullying, sexual harassment, and sexual assault. Some of the prevention program described here feature services, including youth hotlines, special events that focus on violence or abuse-related topics, conflict resolution and peer mediation, and family counseling.
