On August 23, 1993, all juvenile detention centers in Florida participated in a 1-day survey of youths being held in secure detention.
Abstract
The survey encompassed information on the number of youths, sex, race, age, length of stay during this placement, and most serious offense for this detention. The survey also ascertained whether the youth was placed for contempt (direct or indirect), whether the youth was detained because of a new law violation he committed while in detention or while on commitment status, the youth's risk assessment score, and whether the offenses committed were felonies or misdemeanors.
