This report presents admission and return statistics for California inmates and parolees for the month of April 1994.
Abstract
One table presents prison population and movement statistics for each month from April 1993 through April 1994. Male and female inmate populations are presented by month for inmate type (felons, civil narcotic addicts, Youth Authority, county diagnostic, safekeepers, and other State/Federal). Admissions and releases are also presented for each month by inmate and parolee classification. Another table shows admission or return status by institution as of April 30, 1994. As of the end of April 1994, the total prison population was 123,330 (115,460 males and 7,870 females). This is an increase of 10,255 from April 1993. Racial-ethnic distribution of the population by institution as of April 30, 1994, is followed by racial-ethnic distribution of the institutional population by commitment type (felons, civil narcotic addicts, and "others"). These data are presented by gender and also by institutional security level. Separate tables present parole population and movement data by commitment type and racial-ethnic distribution by region. A glossary defines terms used in the report.
