Abstract
A summary provides the following information for each corrections management firm: rated capacity of all facilities under contract; the number of facilities under contract; the rated capacity of facilities now in operation; prisoner populations on June 30, 1994; the percentage occupancy for facilities in operation; new facilities to open within 12-18 months; and expansion anticipated within 12-18 months. The summary shows the percentage change for each information item since December 31, 1993. A table also provides information on each facility managed by each private firm. Facility information addresses location, name, primary source of prisoners, secondary source of prisoners, rated capacity, present population, occupancy percentage, security level, ownership of facility, first received prisoners, ACA accreditation, facility construct, and whether facility expansion is planned. Another table shows American, international, and overall corporate market share comparisons; and a chart depicts secure private correctional facility beds under management trend for 1983 through June 30, 1994. Other figures show the geographical locations of private facilities, including facilities under construction, and rated capacities of private facilities by geographical location, including facilities under construction and planned expansions. Appended notes to clarify data for individual facilities, an overview of relevant information on juvenile and nonsecure facility management by management firms, and preliminary findings regarding legal authority to contract
