This report presents statistical tables detailing the inmate and parole populations in California, as well as offender characteristics and their movements in and out of institutions and parole during May 1994.
Abstract
Data are also provided on institutional and parole populations for each month from May 1993 through May 1994. The tables reveal a total inmate population of 123,877 in May 1994, an increase of 10,046 over May 1993. This total included 116,025 males and 7,852 females. A total of 10,337 inmates were received and 9,531 were released in May 1994. The total parole population was 85,589 in May 1994 and included 77,426 males and 8,163 females. A total of 9,476 individuals entered parole and 8.681 were released from parole during the month. Of these, 4,406 were returned to institutions. Definitions
