This annual report of the Louisiana Crime Victims Reparations Board covers the period from July 1992 through June 1993.
Abstract
During that period, the total amount of funds collected was over $902,000. The Board reviewed 746 claims and awarded a total of $1.001 million. The average total per award was $2,023. Funds for the Crime Victims Reparations Program are not appropriated by the State, but rather are collected from costs levied on criminal court cases. This report also describes criteria for eligibility to apply for awards, application requirements, prohibited awards, reasons for denying awards, and public information awareness efforts. Claims statistics are presented here by parish, sex, age, and crime type. The report concludes with summaries of sample claim decisions
