S. 2434 would extend the act for 4 years; S. 2441 would extend it for 5 years; and S 2442, the President's bill, would extend the act for 4 years. S. 2441, the Violent Juvenile Crime Control Act, reauthorizes the Juvenile Justice Act, providing $200 million for each of 3 years and $225 million for each of 2 years through 1985. This legislation is designed for accountability, efficiency, and a new initiative that focuses on violent crimes committed by juveniles. S. 2434, entitled the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act Amendments of 1980, authorizes $100,000,000 for each of the fiscal years ending September 30, 1981, 1982, 1983, and 1984. S. 2442, entitled the Juvenile Justice Amendments of 1980, contains parts that pertain to the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Office, Federal assistance for State and local programs, the National Institute for Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and administrative provisions.
