This document presents background papers, the oral and written testimony, and the transcript of a hearing that focused on the Runaway Youth Act, which provided for a Federal assistance program to deal with the problems of runaway youth.
Abstract
The program is operated by the Youth Development Bureau, which is part of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. During fiscal year 1977, the program funded 129 projects, including 128 to provide services to runaway youth and their families and one to provide referral and communication services through a national toll-free telephone service. Speakers at the hearing included Federal and State officials, program directors, and representatives of related organizations.
