This volume identifies organizations that can help users set up programs to combat and prevent violence in their own communities.
Abstract
The first section of the volume identifies sources of technical assistance and information. This includes organizations that offer consultation, training programs, or both, as well as information centers that can refer persons to additional resources and provide materials in various areas of interest. The listings are divided into three categories: community, family, and youth; criminal and juvenile justice; and physical and mental health. The second section lists sources of curricula and other teaching materials. Materials can be selected for use in an existing or proposed program. The section on funding sources identifies foundations and Federal agencies that offer funding for programs that address issues of violence and youth-at-risk. Contact information, arranged alphabetically first for foundations and then by Federal agencies, is provided for most of the programs listed in Volume 1, which provides program descriptions. Brief descriptions of the purposes of these funding organizations and guidelines for applying for funds are also offered. Directories and other printed sources for funding information are provided.
