This space program describes a new industries facility for the Santa Clara (California) County Jail.
Abstract
The proposed facility will double the number of inmates to 190 workers, while expanding product lines and services offered. Following a summary of space requirements, site implications, and cost estimates, this report describes the Santa Clara Correctional Industries current program and future industries program. The industry program combines vocational education and production; industry products including mattresses, furniture, exercise equipment, and clothing repair, are sold only to government and nonprofit agencies. Funding for industries is being phased out, so that in future, activities will have to be self-supporting. Additional planned products and services include automotive repair, document imaging, and sign making. Subsequent sections of the report outline component requirements for the space program, specifications of the proposed site, and more extensive cost estimates.
