This manual aims to raise community awareness about the problem of wife abuse in Newfoundland and Labrador; it contains educational materials and a workshop agenda to make individuals and community groups more knowledgeable of wife abuse.
Abstract
The manual has five sections, the first of which introduces the problem of wife abuse in Newfoundland and Labrador and discusses the benefits to individuals and communities of knowing about the issue. The second section examines issues basic to understanding wife abuse and covers the cyclical nature of violence. The third section identifies available resources, the fourth section provides information on conducting a wife abuse workshop, and the fifth section describes workshop principles. Supplemental information on principles related to abuse prevention and learning activities are appended, as well as an evaluation form for wife abuse workshop participants.
