The Minnesota Department of Education developed a curriculum aimed at the primary prevention of sexual harassment and intervention to reduce the incidence of sexual harassment among elementary-age students.
Abstract
The curriculum uses age-appropriate story telling, puppetry and other fun activities that provide students with factual information about personal safety planning, mutual respect, indicators of sexual harassment, characteristics of positive gender-based relationships, and the use of positive conflict resolutions skills. The curriculum also includes information for teachers such as current research on sexual harassment, violence, laws, and policies. The curriculum is designed for use by classroom and enrichment teachers, school counselors, social workers, nurses, and other school professionals. This manual is divided into five sections including curriculum notes, implementing the curriculum, K-3 lesson plans, Grades 4-6 lesson plans, and 5 appendixes
