Abstract
The commissioner's statement reports on the department's 3 years of intensive reorganization of the Queensland Police Service to provide a more effective community-oriented crime-fighting and prevention force. Following a chart of the department's organizational structure, a section presents statistics and information on police crime prevention efforts. Statistics address funding and reported offenses. Crime prevention programs initiated by the police are briefly described. A section on the detection of offenses reports on clearance rates for various types of offenses, the modernization of the investigative process, and the management of investigations. Information on the technical support program addresses information technology, forensic services, voice communication, transport, information technology, the electronic recording of interviews, photographics, and voice communication. The primary elements of the training program considered are recruit training, the field training program, the competency acquisition program, and the executive development program. The financial statements include a financial summary, a statement of program outlays, and a statement of assets and liabilities.
