Eight tables present statistics on the characteristics of California's calendar year 1993 new felon admissions and parole violators returned with a new term (PV-WNT's).
Abstract
One table presents the number of felon new admissions and PV-WNT's for calendar years 1970-1993, followed by a table that shows offense categories of felon new admissions for calendar years 1988 and 1993. A third table indicates offense categories of PV-WNT's for calendar years 1988 and 1993. Racial/ethnic groups of felon new admissions and PV- WNT's are presented for calendar years 1988 and 1993 in a fourth table, and table 5 shows age groups of PV-WNT's for calendar years 1988 and 1993. Remaining tables provide statistics on county and area of commitment of felon new admissions and PV-WNT's for calendar years 1988 and 1993. During calendar year 1993, the number of felon new admissions increased to 43,149 from 29,579 during 1988. During 1993, parole violators returned with a new term reached an all-time high of 19,150.
