Abstract
Following a short introductory section, consisting of a profile of New Jersey, a list of crime factors, and results of a survey of police agencies regarding crime in the State, this report presents a State summary and offense analysis, focusing on both violent and nonviolent index crimes, ranging from murder, rape, and robbery, to motor vehicle theft, burglary, and arson. The next section presents a State and county arrest summary for nonindex crimes, including simple assault, fraud and embezzlement, driving under the influence, drug-related crimes, and gambling. The report contains a county offense and supplementary data overview, as well as an index offense analysis broken down by urban, suburban, and rural localities. Finally, the report covers New Jersey police employee data, domestic violence, bias incidents, and a summary of law enforcement officers killed and assaulted.
