Justice Annual Report, 1994

NCJ Number
150796
Date Published
1994
Length
59 pages
Annotation
This report highlights the activities in 1994 of Justice, the British section of the International Commission of Jurists, which was formed as a common endeavor of lawyers representing Britain's three main political parties to uphold the principles of justice and the right to a fair trial.
Abstract
The two topics which dominated Justice's criminal law work during the year under review included the report of the Royal Commission on Criminal Justice and the Criminal Justice and Public Order Bill. During the year, Justice's legal caseworkers investigated 110 cases in detail, and reviewed many more alleging miscarriages of justice. The organization is in the process of revitalizing its committees which deal with issues of civil, administrative, and family law. Justice has continued to be involved in human rights issues, both domestically within the European Union, and internationally through the International Commission of Jurists. Internal issues are also covered in this report, including the Justice Trust Appeal, council and executive committees, the policy and research committee, membership, and financial matters.
