The findings revealed that the sample represented the demographics of the total campus population. Students had higher rates of victimization and greater monetary losses than the general population. However, it appears that these victimizations do not occur on campus; students appear to be more likely to be victimized off campus than on campus. Burglary was the most common offense, followed by pick- pocketing or purse snatching, assault, sexual assault, bicycle theft, and theft of auto parts. Results suggested the need for programs and educational materials to reduce student victimization. Further research is also needed. Tables and 38 references (Author abstract modified)
