This report summarizes statistical information on the Maricopa County (Arizona) Juvenile Court Center for 1993 and compares the court activity in 1993 with the activity of the prior 4 years (1989-92).
Abstract
The bulk of the report addresses juvenile delinquency and incorrigibility (status) referrals. Information was obtained from police reports, other referring agencies, and from probation officers who interviewed the children and their families. It describes the number and characteristics of delinquency and incorrigible offense cases in 1993 processed by the county juvenile court. The workload statistics summary provides statistics on the following topics for each of the years 1989 through 1993: county juvenile population, complaints received, detention, dispositions, petitions filed, and court hearings scheduled. A financial and personnel summary is also provided. Other statistics pertain to the type of juvenile referral, characteristics of juveniles referred, characteristics of first offenders, and detention. The latter pertains to intake screening, the average daily population, length of stay, daily cost per juvenile, types of juveniles detained, number of previous referrals, and source of referral. Other information and statistics focus on field probation, commitments, transfers, probation, intake, home detention, placements, diversion programs, recidivism, petitions filed, and the disposition of referrals. Appended zipcodes of residence at time of referral, and schools in each school district
