This program planner kit was designed to help States and communities make National Drunk and Drugged Driver Prevention (3D) Month in December 1994 a successful campaign.
Abstract
The kit includes a background and resource guide and inserts focused on highway safety, health and injury control, driving under the influence, administrative license revocation, blood alcohol concentrations, safety belts, and the costs of alcohol-related traffic injuries. The kit also provides talking points for speeches and interviews designed to promote 3D Month and offers guidance on how to use sample opinion editorials, press releases, and public service announcements to publicize the importance of drunk driving prevention. The following goals of 3D Month are identified: educate the public about impaired driving; educate the public about strategies that discourage impaired driving; and provide tools to help States and local communities effectively implement 3D activities. Specific guidance is presented on how to launch 3D month activities and on groups and organizations to contact for assistance and involvement. The background and resource guide and inserts document the extent of the drunk driving problem.
