The offenders served their sentences in prisons, drug treatment centers, training centers, or a detention center. These institutions admitted 13,327 offenders in 1993. Of these, 10,455 were sentenced to prisons, 2,083 to drug treatment centers, 428 to training centers, and 361 to detention centers. The tables and figures describe the offenders by age, offense, length of sentence, month of sentence, number of previous offenses, number of previous institutional sentences, occupation, educational attainment, residence, marital status, drug abuse status, and gang affiliation.
