The NCVS collects data on personal and household victimization, using detailed information about each incident and its consequences, as well as characteristics of the offender, as reported by the crime victim. The current NCVS sample consists of approximately 50,000 housing units and 101,000 persons who are interviewed every 6 months for 5 years; the first and fifth interviews are conducted in person, while the rest are conducted by telephone. The redesigned survey incorporates questions that ask respondents directly about incidents of violence perpetrated by relatives and intimates, as well as their experiences with any unwanted sexual advances. 8 notes and 31 references
