Based upon data collected through the Police Administration Statistics Annual Survey, this report presents information on selected police administration characteristics of Canadian municipal police departments by Province and city size for 1992.
Abstract
The report presents the following information for each municipal police department: city population size; number of police personnel, distinguished by "police," "civilians," and "other"; the amount billed to the department by the RCMP for contract policing; total expenditures; cost per capita; population per officer; and criminal code offenses per officer. The data on police personnel refer to "actual" strength count of personnel, which means the number of permanent full-time as well as permanent part-time employees who were on the personnel roster as of September 30th of each year.
