The tapes include keynote addresses, skill building workshops, and discussions that cover a variety of topics areas, including implementing school-based strategies to prevent gang involvement, building relationships with law enforcement, developing cultural competence, improving media relations, maintaining coalitions, initiating conflict resolution and preventing violence, conducting needs assessment, and building networks with other community programs. Other subject areas pertain to utilizing existing resources, evaluating programs, reducing gang riot activity, developing gang-prevention strategies for new immigrant and refugee youth populations, strengthening community policing, involving parents in gang prevention, and developing a comprehensive approach to gang prevention.
