This report highlights the activities of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) in 1993, specifically as they relate to explosives incidents and investigations.
Abstract
Support programs operated by ATF include the National Response Team, International Response Team, forensic laboratory support, computerized support related to stolen explosives and recoveries and explosives tracing, explosives technology support, explosives- detecting canines, criminal investigative analysis, and explosives/arson training. The most notable explosives incident during 1993 was the bombing of the World Trade Center in New York City. This report focuses on that incident, and presents an analysis of all explosives incidents in the U.S. during 1993, as well as statistics on explosives thefts and recoveries. The report summarizes significant explosives and arson investigations, as well as program initiatives.
