Abstract
As a sourcebook, this volume explains the context of criminal analysis, details analytical methods in a manner understood by non- analysts, and illustrates the practical applications of analytical skills and methods within the investigative process and within criminal justice management. To gain the recognition it deserves in law enforcement, analysis must respond to the needs of investigators, prosecutors, and police administrators. Following the introductory chapter, the book discusses various techniques in criminal analysis, including, inter alia, assessments, association analysis, commodity flow charts, content and conversation analysis, event flow chart, financial summary, indicator analysis, inference development, maps, market analysis, probability factor, and trend analysis. Subsequent chapters apply these techniques to investigations pertaining to violent crime, narcotics, organized crime, white-collar crime, and street crime. Chapter references and 2 appendixes
