This document lists and summarizes State laws encouraging or mandating the creation of multidisiciplinary or multiagency child protection teams, as of December 31, 1993.
Abstract
These teams are formed to investigate reports of child abuse and neglect, including child sexual abuse. Thirty-one States, the Federal Government, and two territories have such laws. The laws specify the agency responsible for the development and coordination of these teams, the required and optional members of the teams, the role and responsibilities of the team, and the use of written protocols and guidelines. A separate section explains the function of the National Center for Prosecution of Child Abuse, which was founded by the American Prosecutors Research Institute in 1985.
