Abstract
The compilation includes all statutes regarding competency that could apply to a child witness in a criminal proceeding. This includes general competency provisions as well as those specifically designed for child witnesses. Statutes and rules that apply only to civil proceedings have been eliminated from this document. When applicable, the item describes how a specific statute has been interpreted by appellate courts, or how common law rule has been applied.
