Child Abuse Crimes: Child Homicide (Current through December 31, 1993)

NCJ Number
152807
Date Published
1994
Length
65 pages
Annotation
This document summarizes State legislation defining child homicide.
Abstract
The summaries are designed to provide a reference for persons researching criminal child abuse legislation; they present an abridged and potentially incomplete picture of charging statutes in various States and is intended only as an initial reference. The entries do not include sentencing information for every statute, although this information is occasionally included in the text of statutes annotated here. This compilation incorporates only child- specific homicide statutes, and omits general murder and manslaughter laws, as well as felony murder statutes defining homicide committed in the course of a sexual offense or other violent crime. Definitions are included only when referred to in the statute and needed for understanding it. Defenses to the crime of child homicide are not included here.
