These issues may arise across the entire spectrum of litigation, from mass toxic tort and product liability to patent and trademark, medical malpractice, contract, environment, security, antitrust, and criminal cases. The first section of the manual deals with management and admissibility of expert evidence, presenting a framework for considering challenges to expert evidence and suggesting strategies under the amended Federal rules of Civil Procedure to assess the needs of the case. The second section consists of reference guides for seven areas of expert testimony, including epidemiology, toxicology, survey research, forensic analysis of DNA, statistical inference, multiple regression analysis, and estimation of economic loss. The final section of the book covers two extraordinary procedures used to assist in problems of expert evidence, namely, court-appointed experts and special masters. Chapter references
