Bibliography of Resources Concerning Female Offenders

NCJ Number
152884
Author(s)
L J Lees; E T DeCostanzo
Date Published
1994
Length
115 pages
Annotation
This bibliography was compiled based on the recognition that even though female offenders have been punished and incarcerated for many years, they represent only a small percentage of the total offender population and their special needs are not always considered in correctional operations.
Abstract
Bibliographic entries date basically from the 1970's to the 1990's and cover the following areas: community corrections, the female offender as a criminal and as a prisoner, female offender diagnostics and classification, domestic violence, gender differences, juvenile female offenders, legal issues, female prison management, mental health, organizations concerned with female offenders, physical health, programs and services for female offenders, and substance abuse. The bibliography contains an alphabetized list of chapter topics following the table of contents, cross-references, abstracts and annotations, an author section, and a list of bibliographies cited.
