The article that discusses States' meeting of disproportionate minority confinement mandates in Federal legislation describes ways of measuring, responding to, and monitoring disproportionate minority juvenile confinement in five States. Another article describes a balanced approach to community corrections for juveniles that focuses on community protection, accountability, and competency development. The third article explains North Carolina's 4MAT system for teaching juvenile offenders an academic curriculum. The goal of this teaching model is to provide a variety of learning activities that include at some point in the cycle each learner's preferred style.
