Tabular data address aspects of accidental deaths and suicides in India for 1992.
Abstract
A total of 195,000 accidental deaths were reported during 1992. The incidence of accidental deaths increased by a compound growth of 4.6 percent per year in the decade 1982-92. A table also shows the incidence and rate of accidental deaths during 1982 to 1992. Other tables pertinent to accidental deaths are the incidence of accidental deaths by causes during 1992, incidence and rate of accidental deaths due to motor vehicle accidents during 1991 and 1992, comparative statement of incidence of accidental deaths during 1991 and 1992, and the distribution of accidental deaths by sex and age groups during 1992. There were 80,000 suicides reported in India during 1992. In the decade 1982-92, suicides increased with a high compound growth rate of 6.4 percent per year against a population growth of 2.1 percent, thereby resulting in 4.3-percent growth in the rate of suicides. Other data on suicides pertain to incidence of suicides by causes, incidence of suicides by means adopted, a comparative statement of incidence of suicides during 1991 and 1992, and distribution of suicides by sex and age groups during 1992. Seven appended tables provide supplementary statistics.
