Abstract
Six chapters in this document describe the activities of OJJDP and its grantees in its mandated functional areas of State relations and assistance; research, evaluation, and statistics; demonstration programs; training and technical assistance; missing and exploited children; and information dissemination. The report updates the status of compliance by States participating in the Formula Grant Program with JJDP Act mandates in three areas of concern: deinstitutionalization of status offenders and non- offenders, separation of adults and juveniles, and jail and lockup removal. The report fulfills congressional mandates to report on programs related to missing and exploited children and to identify exemplary delinquency prevention programs that receive assistance under the JJDP Act. The final chapter presents statistics on juveniles taken into custody. 4 figures and 5 tables
