This report presents information about the history and current members of the Florida Parole Commission, as well as its activities and accomplishments during fiscal year 1993-94.
Abstract
During the year, the agency secured funding for 22 new positions, the majority of which were to help the field offices reduce the backlog of investigations. The Commission also received approximately $700,000 for new computer equipment recommended by the Information Resource Commission to continue to automate programs. The Commission reviewed approximately 39,000 Control Release cases during the year. While releasing large numbers of offenders via control release, the Commission has been able to target the more violent and dangerous offenders for service of the maximum amount of time within their court-imposed sentence. The number of conditional releases increased 21 percent during the year. During the year, the Commission enacted the proactive Emergency Warrant Program, under which parolees arrested on felony charges must be detained without bond until a judicial determination of probable cause is made. The Commission was involved in screening approximately 800 cases for possible conditional clemency consideration during the year. Tables, figures, photographs, and directory of field service offices
