The problems experienced by juveniles in this sample were restricted to status offenses including running away, truancy, or ignoring curfews. The sample was divided into guardians whose children's behavior improved and those whose children's behavior did not improve. Factor analysis revealed three factors related to behavior (controlling behavior, accepting behavior, and depending behavior), five factors related to perception (accepting juveniles, understanding juvenile behavior, understanding the problem, reflecting, and avoiding responsibility) and three factors related to emotion (unsettledness, recovering composure, and deploring shows of emotion). The results of the counseling process for guardians showed that there was a positive relationship between changes in the guardians' attitudes and improvement in their children's behavior.
