Abstract
Student mediation training is an interactive, action-oriented program consisting of demonstrations, exercises, interactive discussion, and role play practice. The 16 sessions, each 45 minutes long, teach students to use effective listening skills, to express themselves clearly and positively, and to deal with conflict constructively. These excerpts cover the major teaching topics of the mediation process, cultural diversity, communication skills, feelings, mediation techniques, dealing with difficult situations, and being one's own mediator.
