This manual is intended to assist administrators and staff of drug treatment programs in preparing a development plan that supports the program mission and is flexible enough to guide the program into the future.
Abstract
The guide is written for organizations that have obtained government funding either for initial funding to establish programs and their components or for expanding and enhancing established programs. The three tasks to perform are to define the purpose of the development plan and organize a fundraising team, to assess current funding needs and potential sources, and to identify specific strategies for addressing these funding needs. The development plan should outline funding needs, allocate resources, and help program and administrative staff make realistic fundraising decisions. Individual sections of the manual explain how to obtain an overview of the organization, its structure, its goals, and its mission and how to use specific fundraising methods and resources to carry out the development plan. Checklists, chapter reference lists, and addresses and telephone numbers of public and private funding sources
